The current 2 match Test series against Zimbabwe is not part of the WTC cycle so the Proteas are resting key players like Temba Bavuma, Kagiso Rabada and Aiden Markram. Keshav Maharaj was the captain for the Zimbabwe series but he got hurt on day 3 of the first Test with a groin injury. He couldn’t play the second Test and Wiaan Mulder was appointed captain for this match.
Wiaan Mulder is in top form as captain. He now holds the record for the highest individual score in Test cricket away from home. Hanif Mohammad of Pakistan held this record before him, scoring 337 against the West Indies in Barbados in 1958.
