Curtis Campher Creates History: First Bowler to Take 5 Wickets in 5 Balls in Professional Cricket

5 Wickets in 5 Balls

Curtis Campher, the Irish all-rounder, made history in a domestic T20 game. He took five wickets in five balls.

In the 23rd match of Cricket Ireland’s inter-provincial T20 Trophy, Campher was playing for Munster Reds against North-West Warriors when he achieved this feat.

Campher’s five wickets came in two overs. He took two wickets on the last two balls of the 12th over. Then he took a hat-trick in the 14th over. Warriors were bowled out for 88 while chasing 189. Munster won easily.

Campher started with Jared Wilson’s wicket, who didn’t score. Hume was out on the last ball of the same over. In the next over he removed Andy McBrine. Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson were his fourth and fifth wickets. Campher is the first person in professional cricket to take five wickets in five balls.

Curtis Campher finished with 5 for 16 in 2.3 overs. He’s back after a finger injury. The all-rounder missed the T20I and ODI series against West Indies. Now he’s back and doing well with bat and ball in domestic cricket.

Interestingly Curtis Campher also has four wickets in four balls in international cricket. He did that against the Netherlands in the 2021 T20 World Cup. He’s very valuable for Ireland because he’s an all-rounder. Ireland play three ODIs against England in September. Curtis Campher will be back in international action in that series.
