Ben Stokes was amazing, England won by 22 runs at Lord’s. 2-1 up in the series. He bowled for ages, scored big runs and made a crucial run out. He’s tough.

Stokes really went for it, 44 overs in total. That’s the most he’s bowled in 6 years and he’s had 2 bad hamstring injuries in the last year. On the last day he bowled 9.2 and 10 overs, he was exhausted.

Teammate Joe Root, who used to be the captain before Stokes, was amazed by Stokes’s determination. Root told the BBC that even when he told Stokes to rest, Stokes wouldn’t listen, even when he was captain.

Root said Stokes has a natural drive and they are lucky to have him as their captain. Root said it was Stokes’s choice and he wants to win games and they are lucky to have him as their captain..

People were worried during the game. Coach Brendon McCullum even sent a message through Tim Southee to tell Stokes to rest. Joe Root was worried too.

Stokes, tired after his big effort, said he can’t wait to rest before the 4th Test. He said he can’t wait to lie in bed for 4 days and then be ready for the next Test in Manchester. Now England are 2-1 up so the game in Manchester on July 23 will be big for India.
