2025 US Open Tennis

The U.S. Open started as the U.S. National Lawn Tennis Championships at Newport, Rhode Island and the only men’s singles and doubles were featured in 1881. Women’s singles were added in 1887, women’s doubles were added in 1889, and mixed doubles in 1892.

In 1968  the U.S. National Lawn Tennis Championships became THe U.S. Open from here An open era began and both amateurs and professionals started to compete at Forest Hills. The winner of the inaugural Open singles title was Arthur Ashe.

In 1978 the US open was relocated to the USTA National Tennis Center on hard court surface. The surface is made of acrylic and is known as Laykold. 

The wheelchair events were added in 2005 which made the tournament inclusive.

Iconic moments: 

  • In 1968 When Arthur Ashe won the US Open , it was a landmark event for him. He became the first African American man to win the US Open and later he became a local advocate for social justice.
  • Connors has won the titles on grass, clay hard courts, he is the only  male player to win Grand  Slam singles titles on all three court surfaces. He has the record for most ATP singles titles with 109.
  • Now we have Serena Williams who has won a total of 73 career singles titles, with 48 of those wins were on hard courts, she is  the all time leader in hard court titles among women. 

US Open 2025 Schedule 

The US Open is going to commence on Sunday, August 24 and this time it has expanded to a historic 15 day format for the first time.

In US Open 2025 128 players for singles. 64 teams for doubles men and women are going to play. There will be defending singles champions Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalena of The US Open 2024.
